Authorities seal ‘Sheikh ul Alam charitable trust’ building in Srinagar, shift 12 children to Government-run centre

Authorities Wednesday sealed a charitable trust in Srinagar and shifted 12 children to Government run Child Care Institute.

A team led by Dr Khair-un-Nisa, Chairperson ‘Child Welfare Committee’ inspected the ‘Sheikh-ul-Aalam Charitable Trust, located in Kralhud area of Srinagar city, and sealed it after the management failed to produce any legal documents.

“We are afraid this Trust is the same Trust that we had sealed in Jawahar Nagar where it was operational in a single room without any registration,” Dr Khair-un-Nisa told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.

She said 25 children as per the records are admitted in the Trust, however, only 12 were present and all these children have been shifted to Child Care Institute.

“These Trusts are doing a wonderful job, taking care of orphans and children from downtrodden families but these need to follow legal procedure. The management sought 10 days time and we will de-seal this Trust once they produce the legal documents,” she said adding that the Trust in question had been in operation for the last 8 months without any registration.
