Automated milk collection center inaugurated in Shopian

An Automated Milk Collection Center (AMCC) was inaugurated today by Jammu Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (UMEED) at Keshwa Chitragam Shopian as a Women’s Dairy Cooperative.

The inauguration was done in presence of Branch Head JK Bank Chitragam Umar, Sajad Ahmed, JKMPCL, District Programme Managers from NRLM Irfan Basheer & Uzma Mehraj in a centralized ceremony carried by Cluster Level Federation NRLM Chitragam.

On the occasion, Branch Head, JK Bank Chitragam applauded the efforts made by JKRLM and JKMPCL for establishing such kind of rural livelihoods ventures which are women centric and youth focused.

Sajad Ahmed, intimated that more AMCCs will be established in collaboration with JKRLM in Shopian.

During the inaugural Ceremony, Irfan Basheer DPM FI NRLM Shopian shared that UMEED has long term association with JKMPCL since 2016 when the AMCC concept was introduced in limited blocks of Kashmir which included Kupwara and Pulwama but with the passage of time the intervention of Milk Collection through AMCCs expanded in maximum districts of the UT and same kind of interventions has been made in Keshwa Chitragam.

It is pertinent to mention that in Chitragam Cluster, more than 150 SHGs are being operated with 1300 women members registered.

By establishment of this center, Milk collection will be done at door step to increase the efficiency and accuracy of fat testing in milk as well as to test for other constituents of milk like SNF%, Water % etc and it will lead in gaining confidence of milk producers through transparent systems and thereby increasing the milk procurement.
