‘Ban Alcohol, Save Kashmir’- Protest in Srinagar Demanding Ban on Liquor Shops

Scores of youth in Srinagar held a peaceful protest against the proposal of opening of alcohol shops on Friday afternoon.

Scores of youths of Gund Hassi Bhat area in Srinagar held a peaceful protest against the government’s proposal to open alcohol shops in Kashmir.

The protesting youths were carrying placards which read, “Ban alcohol Save Kashmir.”

They said that government should drop the idea of opening of liquor shops in Muslim-dominated region kashmir.

A Protester speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that they would fight with tooth and nail to resist this anti- Islamic move.

“After abrogation of 370 by the government, authorities are only changing our status one by one. We strongly condemn the idea of opening liquor shops in Kashmir,” he said.

The protesting youths appealed the authorities to impose permanent ban on the sale of alcohol and not to open further shops in Kashmir.
