Bangladesh Sends Armed Force on Streets as a Week-long COVID Lockdown Starts

Bangladesh has gone into a severe COVID-19 lockdown. The military and police have been directed to stop individuals from leaving their homes aside from crises or to purchase the basics.

Armed force troopers have been sent to watch close by non-military personnel powers during the closure, starting on Thursday.

An administration request said workplaces and transportation would be closed during the seven-day lockdown, which will help to avoid the current crisis.

“Nobody will be permitted to venture out from home with the exception of a crisis during this seven-day time span,” the notification read.

Dhaka’s police officials told journalists that anybody venturing out from home without reason would be fined and may confront capture.

“In the event that we need to document 5,000 cases and captures a day, we will,” Shafiq ul Islam told a news gathering.
