Barn Owl rescued from Budgam

The Wildlife Department on Thursday said it rescued a Barn Owl from the Ichkoot area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Wildlife officials on Thursday said that local residents of Ichkoot area captured the Barn Owl on Wednesday evening after they found it roaming in the area.

The locals contacted the wildlife officials who reached to the spot and rescued the owl after which the bird was taken to the Dachigam National Park in Srinagar.

The barn owl is the most widely distributed species of owl in the world and one of the most widespread of all species of birds, being found almost everywhere except for the polar and desert regions, Asia north of the Himalayas, most of Indonesia, and some Pacific Islands.
