Bihar student arrested for alleged arms supply to gangs in Jammu Kashmir

The Jammu Kashmir Police have arrested a BTech student from Bihar for allegedly supplying illegal weapons to criminal gangs operating in Jammu and Samba districts.

The accused, Khair Ahmed, is a native of Siwan district in Bihar and is currently pursuing his studies at the Central University of Jammu. He was arrested in connection with a February 23 shootout that took place during a wedding ceremony in the Miran Sahib area.

Police said Ahmed has been booked under Section 109(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to offences under the Arms Act. Investigators claim he played a key role in transporting illegal arms from Bihar and distributing them to gangsters in the region.

Ahmed’s name reportedly surfaced during the interrogation of Balwinder Singh, a prime suspect in the February shooting. While two other accused were arrested on the day of the incident, Singh remained absconding until his recent arrest.

Police have said that further investigation into the case is ongoing.
