Bijbehara Encounter- The Complete Story

Six Militants were Killed in an encounter that broke out  early morning encounter between militants and government forces in Sekipora area of Bijbhera in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) district on Friday.

Officials told The Kashmiriyat that a joint team of army’s 3 RR and Jammu Kashmir Police had sealed all the entry and exit points to the area after launching a cordon and search operation in Sekipora around 2 30 am.

During the searches the holed up militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter.

Six Armed Militants who were trapped in a residential house at Sekipora area amid massive exchange of gunfire have been killed, Sources told The Kashmiriyat.

Four Militants were killed in a residential house and two of them escaped from the site, but were killed in the nearby orchard.

They said that arms and ammunition has been recovered from the Militants, Six Rifles were recovered from their possession.

All the slain Militants were identified as Locals, residents of South Kashmir.

Meanwhile Internet Services have been snapped in Islamabad (Anantnag) District of South Kashmir, the railway services were also suspended in the Southern Kashmir.

The authorities also shut the educational institutes in the district as a precautionary measure.

Identities

Basit Mir, a resident of Pushwara area in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) has been identified as one of the six Militants killed at the encounter in Sekhama in South Kashmir’s Bijbehara area.

Locals of Arwani told The Kashmiriyat that The body of Slain Militant Azad Malik alias Dada has reached his home in Arwani area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) District.

Other slain Militants have been identified as Shahid a resident of Awantipora,  Unais Shafi of Bijbehara, Firdous Ahmed of Maczpuna Pulwama, Atif Nazir of Waghama area in Bijbehara, officials told The Kashmiriyat.

Violent Clashes erupted in many areas of South Kashmir Including Sekpora, Khanabal, Laizibal and Arwani areas of South Kashmir on Friday Morning.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that as the news of the killings of local Militants spread in the area, hundreds of people poured onto the streets shouting slogans and throwing stones on Government Forces.

The Police fired tear smoke shells and pellets on the protesters to disperse them at Sekpora where the gunfight took place.

Meanwhile Sporadic clashes also erupted in Khanabal, the native of Lashkar e Taiba Militant, Basit Mir who was killed at the encounter site.

The Forces fired shots in air to disperse the violent protesters who threw stones on the vehicles of Forces that were deployed in the area.

Clashes also erupted in Arwani over the killing of Azad Malik who is the top commander of Lashkar e Taiba from the Arwani belt.

Police Version

Based on a credible input about the presence of Militants, a cordon and search operation was launched jointly by Police and security forces at the onset of dawn today inside a jungle area of Sekipora at Bijbehara.

As the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the Militants, The fire was retaliated leading to a gunfight.

Incriminating materials including huge quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the matter.

Pertinently no collateral damage took place in this incident.
