Aghast over the growing unemployment in Jammu Kashmir, Scores of youth on Saturday took to the streets in Jammu and expressed their anger towards the government.

Gathered under the banner of Unemployed Youth Association, the march started from outside the Press Club and ended at Satwari Chowk.

Raising slogans against the BJP government, they said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made false promises to the youth when he came to power. “He was shown dreams of employment and jobs but all the promises proved to be false. He also accused the government of running anti-youth policies,” a protesting youth said.

Nimardeep Singh Bhullar, who was leading the march, in his address said that the fitness tests of the Jammu Kashmir Police Border Battalion have been taken while the government has not yet taken its written examination.

“At the same time, youths who have appeared for the post of Forester in the Forest Department are also waiting for the release of the final list, but the government is in deep slumber,” he said.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised jobs after the abrogation of Article 370 but it seems that the central government is playing with the sentiments of the youth of Jammu Kashmir.

He said that the Prime Minister talks about inflation, saving daughters, and the poor in his speechs, but on the ground, the words fall flat.
