The parents of several private school going kids have been constantly complaining of unfair charges being charged by book sellers in the Islamabad (Anantnag) township of South Kashmir.
“They are illegally charging a lot of money and burdening the parents of the students of Private schools. The fees at private schools is high and is increasing every six months,” a parent told The Kashmiriyat.
The Kashmiriyat in this regard contacted the Joint Director of Education Nasir Ahmed who said that the issue needs to be appraised with the Legal meteorological Department (LMD).
The LMD Officials said that action has been initiated against private Schools including Frobels Public School, Whiz Kids and Sharjah Books stall, adding that, a Legal notice has been sent to the book manufacturers located in Noida of the National Capital Region.
“We also found that some of the books at the shops were without a rate slip pasted on them,” an official of the LMD Department said.
“Shops or retailers must offer discount on MRP,” he said. Remember that MRP includes the profit margin of retailers, transportation charges and preserving the product.

In this regard, The team of District Administration led by ADDC of the Islamabad (Anantnag) district Sofi Reyaz Ahmed conducted a market check and found that many book stalls were charging unfair money for the school books.
“They were not offering any discount on the school books from the Maximum retail price, while as they are purchasing books at a maximum of 40 per cent discount,” an administrative official told The Kashmiriyat.
During the market check, the ADDC also sealed a book stall named, Sharjah Book stall located at Iqbal Market of this South Kashmir township for selling the books at unfair charges.
The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad (Anantnag), Mohammed Younis Malik speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that he will meet owners of the book stalls and direct them to offer concession on the books.
