Burglar gang busted in Kulgam, goods worth lakhs recovered: Police

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of burglars and recovered stolen property worth 10-12 lacs from their possession.

In a statement, the police said, District Police Kulgam busted a gang of burglars and arrested 07 burglars involved in many cases, and recovered stolen property worth 10 to 12 lakhs of rupees.

On reception of several complaints about burglary in the areas of Police Station Kulgam, a case with FIR No. 131/2023 & Case with FIR No 165/2023 under relevant sections of law were registered and a special team was constituted under the supervision of SP HQRS Kulgam Ghulam Muhammad Bhat to investigate the incidents of burglary.

During the course of the investigation, one suspected person namely; Ayan Shameem, R/O Bijnoor UP was called for questioning.

During questioning, he disclosed that he along with 06 persons namely Shahid Sheikh, R/O Delhi, Farman Ahmad, R/O Bijnoor, UP, Mohd Amir, R/O UP, Bhar Alam, R/O UP, Mudasir Habib, R/O Shalipora Sopore* and a juvenile (name withheld) committed the crime.

All the persons were brought to police station Kulgam where they confessed that they were involved in multiple burglaries and were subsequently arrested.

The investigating team headed by SHO PS Kulgam was also able to recover stolen property worth lacs on their instance

The investigation in the matter is in progress as more arrests and recoveries are expected. Thus solving multiple theft cases of Kulgam Police, Police said.

Police has resolved to act tough against inimical and anti-social elements.
