CASOs Return to Kishtwar after a Decade

Cordon and Search Operations are back in Kishtwar district of Chenab Valley here in Jammu and Kashmir. After a decade long hiatus, search operations are back as security agencies have inputs about the presence of militants in multiple areas of the district.

Sources said that from past two days Government Forces have been continuously bring certain areas under siege after receiving inputs about the presence of at least three militants in certain areas of Kishtwar district.

A local from Kishtwar told that a cordon a search operation was launched in different areas of Kishtwar district including Semna, Shaheedi Gali, Malik Mohalla and adjacent localities. The Forces personnel in armoured gear not only frisked locals but also conducted house to house searches.

“Last time these localities witnessed such operations in 2005,” he said.

Pertinently, police on Wednesday claimed it arrested a Hizb sympathizer Towseef Ahmed Gandoo who according to them was trying to revive the militancy in Chenab Valley, a claim refuted by family. (CNS)
