Parvaiz Yousuf, a resident of Pampore, has become the first Kashmiri to secure a fully funded PhD scholarship in Ecology and Evolution at Australia’s prestigious James Cook University, ranked among the top global institutions. Hailing from Chatlam Larpora, Pampore, Parvaiz completed his integrated BSc-MSc in Zoology from the Central University of Kashmir in 2022. He has been awarded the James Cook University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (JCUPRS), which covers his full tuition, provides a generous living stipend, and includes overseas health insurance. The scholarship is valued at approximately ₹1.66 crore. The Kashmiri-origin Senior Corporate Scientist, University Professor, and Honorary Judge Dr. Syed Basharat Shah has been nominated and admitted as full-time member in Sigma Xi – The Scientist Research Honor Society, founded in 1886 at Cornell University, USA, Kashmir News Service reported. Protest staged in Austria in solidarity with Kashmiris

A march was staged in Vienna, Austria to express solidarity with Kashmiris and to highlight the "human rights violations" in the region. Reports reaching The Kashmiriyat said that hundreds of Kashmiris living in Vienna along with Pakistanis and several others gathered outside the Vienna International Centre on Saturday and called upon the international community to "wake up" to the pligt of Kashmiris. The event was specifically organised on the eve of the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session at the UN headquarters in New York, US, to remind the international community about UN resolutions and pledges to resolve the Kashmir issue. The protestors demanded that the UN and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) must come forward to support Kashmiris.

The Kashmiri community in Turkey held funeral prayers in absentia in the wake of Syed Ali Shah Geelani's death at Istanbul. Kashmiris gathered in Istanbul on Friday night and also held special prayers for the deceased Hurriyat leader. The widely popular veteran separatist leader from Kashmir Syed Ali Shah Geelani passed away Wednesday night at around 10:00 p.m., after which the news spread widely across the valley. As minor incidents of protests were reported from the valley, immediately a curfew was imposed. All sorts of communication services were barred after that. Scores of Kashmiris in Britain on Saturday protested against the alleged forced burial of Syed Ali Geelani. Shouting slogans in favour of Geelani, The protesters gathered outside the Indian consulate in Birmingham and other cities of the United Kingdom on a call given by Kashmiri group Tehreek e Kashmir. Carrying Geelani’s pictures and shouting the slogans, "We are all Geelanis and we will continue his mission", the protesters said that the deceased leader was buried forcibly by the Government Forces. Protest were also held in Nelson and Dewsbury. Kashmiris also held funeral prayers in absentia in Luton, Walsall, Leeds, and other cities in the different countries of Europe. Syed Ali Shah Geelani died late on Wednesday at the age of 92, following a long illness.
