The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), which was barged into by Delhi Police after being one of the main centres of the anti-CAA protests in New Delhi has been ranked among the top ten universities of India by the HRD Ministry of India. Jawahar Lal Nehru, which has often been labelled as Anti national University, has also figured among the top 10 universities in the country. In a significant decision the University of Kashmir, in view of COVID-19 pandemic, has decided that there will be no end term exams for the current semester and the previous semesters where exams were due during the lockdown period. School Timings Changed in Srinagar Yet Again

May 01 The directorate of school education Kashmir (DSEK) has modified its previous order issued regarding the timing of schools within the Municipal limits of Srinagar city. As per the new order, the schools within Srinagar Municipal limits will continue to function from 9am to 3pm. "The order shall be adhered to strictly by all concerned institutions," reads the DSEK order. Earlier, the DSEK had fixed the school timing from 8.30 am to 2.30 pm for schools within Srinagar Municipal limits. The order which came into effect today evoked public outcry forcing the department to revise the school timing.

DSEK Orders Change in School Timing from 1 May

April 29 The directorate of school education Kashmir (DSEK) on Monday ordered change in the school timings from November 01. “Schools falling in the areas of Srinagar Municipal limits will be open from 8.30 am to 2.30 pm while the schools located outside the Srinagar municipal limits and other areas of the Kashmir province will remain functional from 9.30 am to 3:30 pm,” read an order of DSEK. The order said that the instructions shall be adhered to by all the institutions. “Any deviation in this regard will be viewed seriously,” reads the order.
