Muslim Cab Driver Dies Due to Beating at Police Station in Mumbai

Sohail Sheikh, a 26 year - old cab driver died due to ‘excessive beating’ in the custody of Mumbai Police in Chembur as per his family's allegations. An officer from the RCF Police Station in Chembur is accused by the family of Sheikh for his custodial killing. On Tuesday afternoon, Sohail was picked up from his uncle's residence and was declared dead the next day, after the police allegedly refused to let him take his medications for hypertension. On 15th September a constable and an officer in civil clothes visited Sohail's uncle Tayyab Mansoor Sheikh's home and took them both to the police station for questioning. After the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested nine suspected from Ernakulam, Kerala, Nahas Mala, president of Solidarity Youth Movement and the member youth wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind in Kerala said that the general public and the media should not blindly believe NIA versions and should raise questions over recent arrests. The arrested include Murshid Hassan, Iyakub Biswas, Mosaraf Hossen, Najmus Sakib, Abu Sufiyan, Mainul Mondal, Leu Yean Ahmed, Al Mamun Kamal and Atitur Rehman on suspicion Al-Qaeda operatives in Kerala and West Bengal. The 43-year-old Jhilani building in Maharashtra’s power loom town, Bhiwandi, collapsed at around 4:30 am on Monday. The building had 40 flats and houses, which accommodated around 150 people. As many as ten people have been reportedly killed in the tragic building collapse accident in Bhiwandi. A four-year old boy was rescued by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). According to reports, ten more people are expected to be trapped under the collapse. The Union Home Ministry on Monday said the Tablighi Jamaat gathering in Delhi's Nizamuddin locality in March led to the coronavirus infection spreading to "many persons". Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy also said in the Rajya Sabha that Delhi Police arrested 233 Tablighi Jamaat members and 2,361 people have been evacuated from the organisation's headquarters since March 29. Chinese Army Blocked 10 Patrolling Points in Eastern Ladakh, Says Senior Indian Official

A senior Indian government official told The Hindu that at least 10 patrolling points (PPs) spanning from the Depsang plains in the north to the Pangong Tso Lake in the south of Ladakh, along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) have been blocked by Chinese soldiers. On Thursday, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during the Rajya Sabha session said, “China continues to be in illegal occupation of approximately 38,000 sq kms in the Union Territory of Ladakh."
