Danishwar Hameed The family of a research scholar in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir has sought official help in getting the dead body of their son from Sudan where he was pursuing his Ph.D. Parvaiz Ahmed Mir, son of Ghulam Qadir Mir aged 35, who is a resident of the Yamrach area in Kulgam, as per the family, died on 6 January 2020 in Wad Madani city of Sudan, where he was doing his research. The cause of the death of the 35-year-old research scholar is not known as of yet. As per an official press release, at about 1200 hours Police party from Police Station Kulgam led by I/C SHO Kulgam SI Imtiyaz Malik under the supervision of DySP HQRs Kulgam Ghulam Mohd Bhat-JKPS established a Naka near Tehsil office Kulgam and intercepted two suspected persons. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a four-wheeler bearing the registration number JK03-7280 hit a person near the Bongam area of Kulgam, resulting in the death of one person. A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that the Devsar Police Station in Kulgam arrested a man after receiving a complaint about a rape incident and uploading it to social media after recording it over the phone. He said that the station house officer of Kulgam, Jazib Mohammed on the directions of his seniors started a search for the accused and within six hours Amir Bhat of Gudder area in Kulgam (the accused) was detained. "A case FIR No. 120/2020 U/S 376, 506 IPC, 4 POCSO Act, 67A IT Act has been registered in Police Station Devsar and further investigation is on," the official said.
