Search Operation in Kulgam Area

KULGAM
July 27 The Government Forces on Friday Night launched a search operation in Srandoo area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Local Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Government Forces including RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police are frisking vehicles and have also searched some locals in the area. The Government Forces are on the main road of Srandoo and are conducting search operation in the area. Details Emerging.

6 Hour Long CASO Ends at Khudwani, Nothing Found

July 23 The Cordon and Search Operation launched by Government Forces in Wani Mohallah and later extended to Lone Mohallah in Khudwani area of Kulgam in South Kashmir has ended just now. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that the CASO that had been launched by 1 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police has been called off after nothing was found in the area. Massive clashes had erupted in the area between youth and Forces in which one youth was hit with a tear smoke shell on his head, he has been shifted to Srinagar for specialised treatment. Meanwhile a CASO is also going on at Harmain area of South Kashmir's Shopian District.

Clashes, Aerial Firing on Protesters during CASO in Khudwani

July 23 Aerial firing was used upon protesters in Khudwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District on Monday afternoon. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that massive stone throwing clashes erupted after forces launched a CASO in the wani Mohalla area of Khudwani. Hundreds of youth hit the streets shouting pro Freedom and Pro Islam slogans throwing stones on troopers near the encounter site of Sunday where three Militants had been killed. The Troopers fired in the air to disperse the protesters,however the clashes were going on when this report was filed.

Umar Rashid of Khudwani not Among Killed Militants

July 22 Umar Rashid Wani of Khudwani Kulgam who joined Militancy on 22 May this year is not among the Militants killed at Khudwani Encounter site on Sunday. Police sources confirmed to The Kashmiriyat that Suhail Ahmed of Hawoora Kulgam, Mudasir Ahmed of Sholipora Kulgam and Abu Muawiya, a foreign Militant were killed in the gunfight. Groups of media have been wrongly displaying the photos of Umar being one of the slain Militants, however Police clarified that he has not been killed. Militants offer Gun salute to their colleague in Kulgam

July 22 Militants on Sunday offered Gun Salute to slain Suhail Ahmed at Hawoora Kulgam who was killed in an Encounter that erupted in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District, Locals told The Kashmiriyat. They said that a group of 2-3 Militants appeared on the stage where Suhail's corpse lay and fired in the air as a mark of respect to their slain colleague. Meanwhile thousands of people have gathered in Hawoora area of Kulgam to attend the funeral of Suhail Ahmed. Suhail was killed in a gunfight with two colleagues at nearby wani Mohallah in Khudwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district early morning on Sunday. 

Militants Killed in Khudwani Identified

July 22 Three Militants killed in the encounter at Khudwani early morning on Saturday have been identified as affiliates of Lashkar e Taiba. Two of them who are locals have been identified as Suhail Ahmed of Hawoora Kulgam, Mudasir Ahmed of Sholipora Kulgam while the third one has been identified as Abu Muwaiya, a foreign Militant. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the three were trapped in a house in the Khudwani area of South Kashmir after the Forces laid a cordon and siege operation around the Wani Mohallah locality in Khudwani. Thousands of people have gathered in the localities, however their bodies have not been handed over to the families as of yet.  

Massive Clashes Erupt Near Encounter Site in Khudwani

July 22 Intense clashes between protesters and government forces erupted near gunfight site in Khudwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district where a gunfight between militants and forces is underway. Gunfight is on as two to three Militants are believed to be trapped in the area, official sources told The Kashmiriyat. A Local told The Kashmiriyat that Hundreds of protesters assembled and pelted stones on forces who retaliated with tear smoke shelling and pellet firing at near the encounter site Announcements are being made on loudspeakers in the mosques asking others to come out and help the trapped Militants escape, a local told The Kashmiriyat. People in large numbers from adjacent areas of Khudwani, Quimoh, Gofbal, Redwani are marching towards the encounter site.

July 22 An intense gunfight is underway at Wani Mohallah area of Khudwani in South Kashmir's Kulgam District early morning on Sunday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the encounter erupted when Militants opened fire on troops who were conducting a search operation in the area following inputs about militant presence in the area. The troops including 1RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police had jointly launched the operation when suddenly they were fired upon around 4 am. As per the latest report massive exchange of gunfire is on between Militants and Government Forces. 2-3 Militants are believed to be trapped. Body of Abducted Policeman Found in Kulgam

July 21 The Bullet ridden body of the kidnapped policeman was found just now near Oudipora Batpora area in South Kashmir's Kulgam district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Mohammed Saleem Shah, a resident of Ashmuji area was arrested by suspected Militants late night on Friday. They said that Saleem was kidnapped by suspected Militants when he was on a leave from his training at his home in matalhama area of Quimoh in South kashmir's Kulgam district. As per locals he was returning after fishing from a nearby pond at 9 pm when some gunmen appeared and abducted him and asked his friend to leave.

Search Operation Launched in Kulgam Area after Gunshots

July 21 A Search operation has been launched in Redwani bala area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District on Saturday afternoon. Police officials confirmed that Gunshots were heard around the redwani belt in South Kashmir's Quimoh area in Kulgam District. The Forces, as per locals, have launched a massive search operation in the fields around Redwani area and a huge presence of Indian Army can be seen moving around the area. They said 4-6 gunshots were heard around 3:30 pm this afternoon after which forces arrived into the village. Details emerging.
