A group of 60 Tablighi Jamaat members cremated/buried over 500 bodies so far. They have been carrying out cremation and funerals of covid-19 patients in Tirupati city of Andhra Pradesh. Police on Sunday arrested seven people for stealing clothes from dead bodies from crematoria and graveyards in Baghpat in western Uttar Pradesh. Police said the accused used to steal the shroud used to cover the dead, their clothes, sarees, among other things. "Seven people have been arrested. During interrogation, it was revealed that they used to steal bedsheets, sarees, clothes of the dead. Among the items recovered are: 520 bedsheets, 127 kurtas, 52 white sarees, and other articles of clothing," Circle Officer Alok Singh told a posse of reporters. Putting the articles to a good wash and post ironing them, the men would again sell it using a Gwalior company's label, said the officer. India recorded 4,03,738 fresh COVID-19 cases in a day, which pushed the tally to 2,22,96,414, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Sunday. The death toll climbed to 2,42,362 with 4,092 daily deaths, the data updated at 8 am showed. Registering a steady increase, the active cases have increased to 37,36,648, comprising 16.76 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 82.15 per cent. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,83,17,404 with 3,86,444 patients recovering in a day, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.09 per cent, the data stated. A 40-bed hospital has been established to treat Covid-19 patients with cow-based medicines & mantras in Tetoda, Deesa taluka of north Gujarat. The patiets are being treated with Panchgavya’ therapy where they’ll be given medicinal products made of cow’s milk, ghee, urine & dung, Gujarat Samachar reported. The facility named, ‘Vedalakshana Panchgavya Ayurved Covid Isolation centre has 40 beds in a hall around which grass has been grown which serves twin purpose of providing fodder to the cows as well as keep the place cool. Fans and air coolers too have also been fitted in the hall. A special ‘Panch Gavya’ kit has been prepared from cow-produced materials for the COVID-19 patients. The Goshala has also kept a stock of oxygen cylinders in case an exigency arises.
