Taking note of an "unprecedented surge" in COVID-19 cases in the country, the Supreme Court on Saturday passed directions for decongestion of prisons and ordered forthwith release of all those prisoners who were granted bail or parole last year in view of the pandemic. Amidst the growing casses of Covid 19, dead bodies were seen floating near the Yamuna river bridge in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh. A video of the incident that has gone viral shows dozens of dead bodies floating in the river Yamuna River in Hamirpur district. Goons barged inside a mosque in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district on Monday and chanted “Jai Shri Ram” slogans before they damaged some loudspeakers of the mosque. A video has also gone viral on social media following the incident. According to a report published on The Times of India Mohammad Riyaz, mosque’s imam present at the time of the incident, had said the youths told him that they had come to remove the loudspeakers from the mosque. Siddique Kappan, the Kerala-based journalist lodged in Mathura jail over alleged sedition charges, has been moved back to the Mathura Jail from AIIMS, Delhi,  covertly and without letting them meet Kappan, alleged his family. Indian Army on Tuesday raised an issue of less allotment of oxygen to its base hospital in the national capital by the Delhi government. The force stated that the hospital has a daily requirement of 3.4 MT of oxygen. The Delhi government allocated 1 MT till Monday. All of a sudden on Tuesday, the allotment was reduced to 0.4 MT. It has been reported that on Sunday, a total of 24 patients lost their lives due to the lack of oxygen in a hospital in Karnataka's Chamarajanagar district hospital. It is said that many among them were Covid-19 patients. As per a report by the Deccan Herald, the district administration has maintained that 12 among the deceased died due to the lack of oxygen while the others due to severe ailments.
