  A court in Gujarat's Surat on Saturday acquitted all the 127 members of the banned outfit Student's Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) who were accused and arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for participating in a meeting organized on December 2001 after the central government had through its notification dated - September 27, 2001 banned SIMI. The total number of Muslims arrested were 127, while among the acquitted, 5 innocent died during trial, after they were arrested with the allegation of being members of a banned organization Student's Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), an advocate said. On Friday, Mumbai police said, that the owner of the vehicle with explosives which was parked near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s residence last week, was found dead in a creek in neighboring Thane. Hiren Deshmuk, the owner of the vehicle was found dead after he went missing on Thursday night as per his family. The body was found on the banks of the creek along the Mumbra Reti Bunder road in the morning, a senior official of Thane Police said. “All OTT Platforms will not have to Register with the Ministry” : Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting on New Digital Rules

  On Thursday, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said that OTT platforms will not have to register with the ministry and a self-regulating body under the new digital rules will have no members appointed by the government. On February 25, the Centre notified the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, under the Information Technology Act, 2000. The new set of rules are for regulating social media companies, streaming and digital news content. As part of the rules, the Centre had proposed a three-tier mechanism for the platforms to address content-related matters. The first layer would be officials appointed by these companies. On February 28, the father of the girl filed a missing complaint and alleged that a person namely Harendra had kidnapped her daughter. Her body was recovered from the accused’s house on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the Information and broadcasting ministry wrote to chief secretaries of states and administrators of union territories, clarifying them that powers under Part III of the recently framed Information Technology Rules, 2021, have not been delegated to state governments, district magistrates, and police commissioners and news agency. The ministry’s response came after a DM in Manipur withdrew a notice issued by him to a talk show under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, which were notified on February 25.
