Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole on Monday said that by tonight all trucks stranded on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway will be cleared and that there were natural reasons for halting of trucks on the highway. Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Pole said that all trucks including fruit-laden trucks will be cleared on the National Highway by tonight. He added that trucks and other vehicles are only halted on the highway when there are shooting stones at some places along the highway and due to inclement weather. “The allegations levelled by fruit growers’ associations that trucks are deliberately halted on the highway are half truth. Danishwar Hameed An encounter has started between militants and Government forces in Batpora area of Kulgam district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday afternoon, RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF joinylt laid a cordon an search operation in the Batpora area of that the encounter started in the area on specific information generated by police. During the cordon, the hiding militant opened fire on forces triggering an encounter. As per initial reports, two militants associated with Jaish e Muhammad are trapped at the site of the encounter. Danishwar Hameed A woman and her daughter were injured in a gas cylinder leakage in Yaripora area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday morning a mother and daughter identified as Dilshad Akhter and Ruhi Jan respectively were injured due to leakage in a LPG cylinder after which they were referred to the nearby hospital for treatment. 3 shops gutted in overnight blaze in Ganderbal

At least three shops gutted in a massive blaze in Barosa village of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district late last night. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that fire broke out from one of the shops in the area on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Two Poonch youth arrested for ‘collecting donations’ in Rajasthan’s border area

Two youths from Jammu Kashmir were arrested by the police in the Jaisalmer area near the Rajasthan border on Friday evening. The duo identified as Jameel Iqbal and Maruf Hussain, both residents of Poonch were arrested for “collecting donations in the prohibited area without permission.” The two have been taken for interrogation by a Joint Investigation Committee. Police said that the police post at Khuiyala got information about the movement of the two youths after which the duo was detained. Last year, in August, the Rajasthan police detained two Poonch in the territorial jurisdiction of Jaisalmer district after they had collected as donations for a madrasa.
