Property worth lakhs was destroyed in a pre-dawn conflagration incident in the Soura area of Srinagar outskirts on Sunday. Local sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that flames emanated from the office of ‘Builders Concept’ and before the fire could be controlled by firefighters, property worth lakhs turned into ashes. The office building that is located on 90 Feet Soura Road is owned by Muzamil Ahmed Dar. Police have registered a case to ascertain the cause of the fire. Sources added that firefighters, local police, and natives managed to douse the fire and thus stop it from spreading to adjacent buildings. (KNT)

The fruit growers across Kashmir Saturday said that they continue to face losses alleging that the government has failed to ensure hassle-free movement of apple-laden trucks on the national highway. Several fruit growers and representatives of several associations told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that despite government orders, authorities have failed to implement it on the ground. Unidentified persons in intervening night of Saturday-Sunday stole an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of JK bank and decamped with cash in Panzan Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district. A police officer told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that unidentified persons entered into JK Bank ATM, located at Panzan in Budgam and looted cash along with the ATM machine. It was not immediately clear as to how much cash was in the ATM, he said. The machine was found in a broken condition at GunjBagh adjacent to the village. Two non-locals were shot at and injured in the Ratnipora area of Pulwama in south Kashmir. An official told The Kashmiriyat that two non-locals were shot at by Militants in Kharbhatpora Ratnipora on Saturday evening. A Jungle Smuggler died while cutting a tree illegally in Cental Kashmir’s Budgam forest area while police have launched a hunt to nab the accomplices of the deceased smuggler. Reports said that a group of jungle smugglers were illegally cutting down a pine tree in the Kanidajan forest area. One of the smugglers identified as Rafiq Khokhar (33) son of Habibullah Khokhar of Kokar Bagh area of Khag Budgam came under the tree that he was cutting. Two minors have been allegedly raped by their father in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district after which the Jammu Kashmir Police have taken the accused into detention. Locals speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that the father of the duo allegedly raped his daughters, aged 8 and 14 in the Chakoora area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
