Chief Secretary of Jammu Kashmir, Arun Kumar Mehta on Thursday said that by the end of September all land owners will get digital land passbooks in the Union Territory. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here, Kumar, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the land passbooks will be issued in three different languages including Hindi, English and Kashmiri. The Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday late evening claimed to have arrested two active hybrid militants along with arms and ammunition in Sopore area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district. Economic offences on rise in JK, 669 cases in 2021

Jammu Kashmir has seen a surge in economic offences cases over the last two years, said NCRB data. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), it said that J&K 621 economic offence cases were reported in 2019 with 611 the next year. In 2021, Jammu and Kashmir saw 669 economic offence cases. They include 71 cases of criminal breach of trust, eight cases of counterfeiting and 590 cases of forgery, cheating and fraud. Giving further details, 12 cases of criminal breach of trust were reported including 10 cases below one lakh and two cases in between 1 lakh to 10 lakh. Among the cases of forgery, cheating and fraud, 56 such cases are of below one lakh, 38 cases between 1 lakh to 10 lakh, 8 cases of 10-50 lakhs and 3 cases of Rs 1-10 crore. 11 booked for keeping ‘banned’ single use plastic in Sopore

At least eleven persons have been booked for keeping single use plastic (SUP) in Sopore town of North Kashmir's Baramulla district, officials said here on Wednesday. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that 11 persons have been booked under section 290 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for keeping banned SUP, while a formal letter has also been sent to the concerned police station for registration of FIR. SSB jawan falls off building in Srinagar, dies

A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan died after falling off a building in Pandrethan area of Srinagar, officials said here on Wednesday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that constable Anuj Kumar of 151 Battalion, A/coy SSB fell from the building at Geology and Mining department in Pandrethan. A man was arrested in Tangmarg's Kunzer area in Baramulla district for allegedly raping a minor girl and burying an infant in the north Kashmir area. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a few local residents spotted a man suspiciously carrying something towards the graveyard. "upon being questioned, he told the locals that a Quran Shareef had burnt down, so he was going to the graveyard to bury the holy book," they said. The Communist Party of India (Marxist), Jammu Kashmir unit expressed serious concern over the reports of school children forced to sing Hindu hymns. Ghulam Nabi Malik, a senior leader of CPIM, as per a press statement said that a video is making rounds on social media, in which school staff is seen asking students in a class to sing the famous hymn ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram in a government school of Kulgam area. “The rituals and beliefs of a particular caste or faith cannot be imposed on the education system of a secular nation. Such activities can prove detrimental to a harmonious educational atmosphere,” said CPI(M) Secretary Ghulam Nabi Malik in a statement.
