House Destroyed in Snow in Tangmarg, Officials Ignore Family Despite Tall Claims

February 07 Sajad Hameed A residential house was damaged due to heavy snowfall in Tangmarg outskirts of north Kashmir on Thursday. Locals informed The Kashmiriyat said that a house of Bashir Ahmad Wani son of Mohammed Azdullaha Wani resident of Chutpatrie Babarashi was damaged due to heavy snowfall. However no loss of injury has been reported. Meanwhile the affected family claimed that despite informing the admin about the incident, no official visited the family. The locals of the area later have evacuated family after administration failed to visit there. "We are living under open skies, and it is shameful that despite tall claims no official has visited us," a family member told The Kashmiriyat.  

Bootlegger Arrested with Illicit Liquor in Sangam

February 07 The Jammu Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a bootlegger in Sangam area of South Kashmir. A police official told The Kashmiriyat that a police party intercepted a person during checking near Sangam. During  naka checking at Sangam, dozens of bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from a bag, which he was carrying. He has been identified as Hilal Ahmed wani, resident of Naik Pora Kulgam. A case has been registered in this regard and investigation has been taken up.

Municipal Employees Who Joined Congress in Islamabad (anantnag) Last Month Suspended

February 07 Two employees of Municipal Council Islamabad (Anantnag) in South Kashmir have been suspended by authorities after they joined Congress during a function in this South Kashmir district the last month. Employees named Nisar Ahmed Sofal and Mohammed Ashraf have been placed under suspension via an order dated 06 February 2019. The employees had joined Pradesh Congress Committee on 13 January, after which the issue was brought into spotlight by the editor of The Kashmiriyat, Salman Shah. His post was shared widely on Social networking sites including Facebook, twitter and Whatsapp.  

Three Army Soldiers In Rifleman Auranzeb’s Killing Case

February 06 The Government Forces have detained three Army men for their role in the killing of slain soldier Aurangzeb in June last year. The three soldiers are being questioned, a report by Indian Express. Tawseef Ahmad, one of the three soldiers detained, was taken to hospital with multiple injuries after being assaulted, allegedly by RR personnel. He was hospitalized and later shifted to Srinagar for treatment. Tawseef was spotted by locals and was later rushed to the hospital. On June 14 last year, Aurangzeb was seen in a short video in a forest answering questions on his duties, postings and operations. Hours later, his dead body was recovered in Pulwama.

Nocturnal Raids in Pulwama- At least 9 Youth Arrested

February 05 The Government Forces raided various areas in South Kashmir's Pulwama District late night on Monday and arrested at least nine boys from the area. Locals speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that Government Forces late night on Monday broke into a few residential houses in Arigam, Arihal locality and arrested five boys from their houses. February 02 A picture of a youth from Srinagar's Natipora holding a gun has gone viral over social media. As per reports the youth has been identified as Danish Haneef Wani went missing soon after on December 30 A Picture of Wani holding a gun and a copy of Quran has surfaced on social media on Saturday. According to the picture, Wani has joined Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group on January 8.

Missing Budgam Youth Arrested in Pulwama

February 02 A youth who was missing since January 23 has been arrested from Pulwama area of south Kashmir on Friday afternoon. Official sources said that the youth Azad Ahmad Dar son of Masood Dar from Dalwan area of Charar-i-Shareef, Budgam was arrested near Fruit Mandi Pulwama. However, there was no confirmation by police with regard to it. Azad went missing, a day after a gunfight took place in the Hapatnar area of the central Kashmir district in which three Al-Badr militants were killed. His family had also submitted a missing report with the local police. Pertinently, Adil Ahmad Ganie (24) son of Gulzar Ahmad Ganie of Hardu Dalwan has also gone missing from January 25, last month.

CASO Launched by Forces in Tral Area

February 02 A cordon and search operation has been launched by Government Forces in Tral area of Pulwama District in South Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday, the 42 RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a search operation in Gulabagh Area of Tral in South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Following inputs about Militant movement in the area, the forces blocked all the entry and exit points of the area.   A door to door search operation had been launched when this report was filed.

Two Dead Bodies Recovered, One Recovered Alive in Pahalgam Snow Avalanche

February 01 Two dead bodies have been recovered while one more was recovered injured at Gudkhamb point in Pahalgam. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that three persons were recovered, two of them dead while one was recovered in a injured condition under snow after a snow avalanche hit the area earlier in the day. The snow avalanche struck the Pahalgam-Aru road when it was being cleared of snow, at Gudkhamb point and the persons on board a JCB were swept away.
