CASO Launched in the Native of Sameer Tiger in Pulwama

January 31 A cordon and search operation has been launched by Government Forces in Pulwama District of South Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday, the 55 RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a search operation in Drubgam Area of South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Following inputs about Militant movement in the area, the forces blocked all the entry and exit points of the area.   A door to door search operation had been launched when this report was filed.

Hurriyat Calls for a Complete Shutdown on February 03

CRPF Officer Dies of Brian Haemorrhage in Kashmir’s Ganderbal

January 28 A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper died of brain haemorrhage in Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district Monday afternoon. As per initial reports, An Assistant commandant of CRPF identified as Ravinder Kumar of 118 BN a resident of Uttar Pradesh fell unconscious after suffering brain haemorrhage at the CRPF headquarters in Gund area of Kangan. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he breathed his last. Officials said that a case has been registered at police station Gund.

Lolab Residents Protest Against the Desecration of Mosque and Quran in the Area

January 28 Hundreds of Residents of Shartpora area in Lolab belt of Kupwara in North Kashmir on Monday protested against the alleged desceration of mosque and Quran in the area. Claiming that copies of holy Quran and an adjacent mosque were set ablaze during night hours which they found during the time of Fajr (Dawn) prayers. As the news of the incident spread, hundreds of people stormed out of their houses and staged protests in the area to demand stern punishment to the culprits. Army Vehicle Hits A Car in Handwara, 1 Dead, Protests Erupt

January 28 One person has been killed when an army casspir vehicle hit an Alto car in North Kashmir on Monday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that an army vehicle rammed into a civilian car on Monday Afternoon in Chogal area of Handwara in North Kashmir, resulting in death of one civilian. He has been identified as Aijaz Rasool, a resident of Sopore area in Baramulla. As per latest reports, others have been rushed to the hospital for treatment. As soon as the accident happened, locals hit the streets and protested against the Indian Army. Details emerging.

Babri Masjid Case Will not be Heard on January 29

January 28 Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case will not be taken up for hearing by 5-judge constitution bench of Supreme Court on January 29 due to the non-availability of Justice SA Bobde. Earlier on January 25, Justices Ashok Bhushan and S A Nazeer, who were part of an earlier 3-judge bench were selected to be on the newly constituted 5-judge bench in the case. ALSO READ: 6 December 1992- When Babri Masjid was Demolished Both the judges were part of the 3-judge bench, then headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra (now retired), which had by 2:1 majority verdict refused to refer to a larger bench the question as to whether the mosque is integral to offering prayers in Islam. Justice Nazeer had delivered a minority judgement.

Tral Shuts on the Fourth Anniversary of Militant Commander Abid Khan

January 27 South Kashmir's Tral hamlet has shut down on Sunday to commemorate the fourth anniversary of Slain Hizb commander, Abid Khan. The Kashmiriyat reporter, Sikander Gul reported that all shops and business establishments are shut in the town while roads are wearing a deserted look. Abid was killed in an encounter with Government Forces on 27 Janaury in 2015 along with his associate Sheeraz Ahmed in Handoora area of Tral. Pertinently two Government Force personnel including a top rank official of Indian Army was also killed on the encounter.

Baramulla Shuts for the Second Consecutive Day to Mourn Militant Killings

January 25 Shabir Khan North Kashmir's Baramulla district has shut down for the second consecutive day on Friday to mourn the recent militant killings. The Kashmiriyat reporter from Baramulla, Shabir Khan reported that all shops and business establishments are shut in the town while roads are wearing a deserted look. Thee Lashkar militants were killed on Wednesday in the outskirts of Baramulla district in a gunfight with government forces. The slain were identified as Suhaib Farooq Akhoon, son of Farooq Ahmad Akhoon, a resident of Khanpora Baramulla; Mohsin Mushtaq Bhat, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Qazi Hamam Baramulla; Nasir Ahmad Darzi, son of Mohammad Amin Darzi, a resident of Sangrampora Batpora Sopore, at present in Jamia Qadeem Baramulla.

Shopian Encounter- 15 Including Six journalists Injured During Clashes

January 22 At least fifteen people including six photojournalists were injured as forces fired pellets on people near Shermal Encounter site in Shopian district. A Photographer while speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that the forces fired pellets at them as they were covering the street protests in Heff area. In the action of forces, six journalists identified as Nisar ul Haq, Kyser Mir, Aijaz Rashid, Junaid Gulzar, Mir Burhan and Waseem Andrabi sustained minor injuries. Meanwhile Forces fired pellets and bullets to disperse the protesters trying to march towards the encounter site.
