The minimum temperature recorded a further increase at most places on Sunday as Kashmir braces for snowfall in next 48 hours. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of minus 0.1°C against last night’s minus 1.4°C. Today’s minimum temperature was 1.8°C above normal, he said. Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of minus 1.3°C against minus 1.6°C. Today’s minimum temperature was 1.8°C above normal for the gateway town, he said. Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of minus 1.4°C against minus 2.8°C on the previous night. Today’s minimum temperature was 5.6°C above normal for the place, he said. SIU carries out searches of various houses in Kupwara

State Investigation Unit (SIU) of police on Thursday carried out searches at various locations in frontier North Kashmir's Kupwara district, officials said. They told GNS that sleuths alongside Naib Tehsildar reached Mirnag in Manzhar area and conducted searches of a house. Similarly the team alongside DySP DAR Kupwara reached Kanibakh Batpora and conducted searches at another house. The team also raided a residential house at Salkoot Kupwara, in presence of Naib Tehsildar Kupwara and DO PP Bazaar Kupwara. The team alongside SHO Kralpora raided a house at Babapora. Jammu Kashmir police have announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for sharing information about militants involved in Rajouri attack in which six civilians were killed on Sunday evening. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that if any person shares any specific information about militants involved in the attack he/she will be rewarded with Rs 10 lakh. Night curfew from 9 pm to 6 m imposed in 1 km strip along IB in Samba

The authorities have imposed night curfew from 9 pm to 6 am in a strip of 1 km from the International Border in Samba district of Jammu division. According to an order, issued by deputy commissioner Samba, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), BSF authorities during the meeting of District level standing committee on Border Security, took up the issue of imposition of night curfew in the border area enabling them to perform their duties more effectively. Weapon snatched from CRPF trooper in Pulwama: Police

Suspected militants on Sunday snatched weapon from Central Reserve Police personnel near Below Rajpora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. A top police officer told GNS that militants snatched a rifle from CRPF personnel of 183 BN posted on Naka duty near Below area. Authorities issue avalanche alert in JK

Authorities have issued an Avalanche alert in different districts of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh and have asked people to avoid going to higher reaches. The alert has been issued for the districts of Bandipora, Baramulla, Doda, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Ramban, and Kargil. “Avalanche with low danger level is likely to occur above 2500 metres over Bandipora, Baramulla, Doda, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Ramban and Kargil in next 24 hours. COVID-19 mock drill held across major Government hospitals in Kashmir

In a shocking incident, an elderly man died while waiting in a queue to submit an old age pension form in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Tuesday, Local news agency Kashmir News Observer reported.
