February 11 The Kashmir valley is observing a shutdown on the hanging anniversary of JKLF founder, Maqbool Bhat. Reports fro North to South Kashmir said that restrictions have been imposed in the major townships across the valley to thwart any kind of protest. Mabqool Bhat, a champion of pro Freedom struggle was hanged inside Tihar Jail on 11 February 1984. Meanwhile the current Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik while paying tributes to Muhammad Maqbool Butt on his 35th anniversary said that he was an ideologue, a statesman, a warrior, a political leader and a diplomat who led nation of Kashmir on all fronts and sacrificed his life for the sacred cause.

After Ladakh Gets Division, Kargil Protests for Being ‘Neglected’

February 10 People of Kargil on Sunday staged a massive protest on Sunday against the governor’s decision of setting up the office headquarter only at Leh, after granting Ladakh the division stature. Thousands of locals including social activists took on roads and staged a protest demonstration against the decision of not giving an equal share to the people of Kargil following the announcement from the state governor to give the separate division to the Ladakh. The locals are demanding that the office headquarters of the new ‘division’ should be at a rotational basis. Citing reasons that in summers the secretariat is functioning at Srinagar and from Kargil, it would be easier to operate. And in winters it is being shifted to Jammu, so from Leh, it is easier to stay connected. ...

Grenade Attack in Srinagar- 7 Troopers Injured

February 10 Firdous Qadri A grenade was lobbed by unknown pwrsoms on a CRPF party near Palladium lane at Lal Chowk in Jammu  Kashmir's Srinagar district on Sunday. All Slain Militants Identified, Bodies Handed Over to Families

February 10 The five slain Militants killed in Kelam encounter in Kulgam district of South Kashmir have been identified by Police. The Police identified the slain as Waseem Bashir Rather alias Zeeshan of Ashumji Kulgam, Zahid Parray of Gopal Pora, Damhal Hanjipora, Kulgam, Idrees Bhat of Arwani, Aaqib Nazir of Zangal Pora Kulgam and Parvaz Bhat (Hubaib) of Mukdampora, Quimoh, Kulgam. February 10 A cold wave continued in the Kashmir Valley and the Ladakh region on Sunday as the weather office said same weather conditions were likely to prevail for two more days. "We are not expecting any major change in the weather conditions during the next two days till February 13 when a spell of light rain and snow is expected in the state," an official of the MET Department said. Srinagar recorded minus 3.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature on Sunday, while Pahalgam and Gulmarg it was minus 8.0 and minus 10.0, respectively. Most water taps were frozen in Srinagar. February 10 The Jammu-Srinagar national highway remained closed on Sunday for the fifth consecutive day due to snowfall and landslides, officials said. Traffic department officials said there has been fresh snowfall in the Banihal area, and landslides at some places in the Banihal-Ramban stretch of the road. “Around three feet snow accumulated on the road. February 10 A Ph.D Scholar turned militant, Waseem Ahmed Rather from Quimoh area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District is likely trapped at the encounter site in Kulgam.
