Clashes Erupt near Encounter Site in Srinagar

December 08 Clashes between protesters and government forces erupted in Mujgund area of Central  Kashmir’s Srinagar district where a gunfight between militants and forces is underway. A Local told The Kashmiriyat that scores of protesters assembled and pelted stones on forces who responded by tear smoke shelling. Announcements are being made on loudspeakers in the mosques asking others to come out, a local told The Kashmiriyat. Encounter Starts in Srinagar

December 08 An encounter has raged between militants and Goverment forces erupted at Mujgund area of Srinagar outskirts on Saturday evening. Sources told The Kashmiriyat  that a joint team of SOG, Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation at Mujgund area on Saturday evening after receiving inputs about presence of some militants in the area. The Forces while conducting the search operation were fire upon by forces, which resulted in an encounter. Hurriyat Calls for Shutdown on Monday

December 08 The Hurriyat leadership has called for a shutdown on Monday on World Human Rights day on December 10. The Hurriyat said that the shutdown will be observed against atrocities, including gruesome killings, arbitrary arrests, destruction of homes and harassment of students and attack on journalists by the government forces. In a statement issued here this afternoon, JRL said that the state “repression” against people was increasing with each passing day as it gets manifest in different forms of “atrocities being committed”.

Stray dogs Attack, injure two women in Kangan

December 06 Rayees Shah A health official said the stray dogs roaming in the area attacked and injured two women in Branpathri Thune locality in Kangan. Two women were bitten by stray dogs in Thune village of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday. A health official said the stray dogs roaming in the. area attacked and injured two women in Branpathri Thune locality in Kangan. The injured were identified as Hajira Begum, 60, and Maryam Begum, 54, both the residents of Branpathri Thune. The duo was rushed to sub district hospital Kangan for immediate treatment, he said.

Shops Gutted in Fire Mishap at Tral and Sopore

December 06 Shabir Khan A confectionery shop was gutted in an overnight fire incident at Khankah Mohallah in Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat said that  the shop owned by Fayaz Ahmad was gutted completely in a fire mishap which broke out around 1 AM. The Locals tried their best to douse off the fire, however to no success as fire tenders reached late to the spot. December 06 The civilian killings in Kashmir Valley in the past four years has increased manifold, as per stats. In contrast to 41 civilian killings in 2015, at least 126 civilians lost their lives in first eleven months of current year-2018.
