Panic has gripped across Jammu Kashmir on Thursday,  as More than 100 birds were found dead in Rajouri, Kathua and Udhampur district from Wednesday evening to Thursday evening. The Administration has picked up the samples and burnt birds at far off locations. Joint teams of Wildlife and Animal Husbandry Departments have been constituted in all the districts and are closely monitoring the situation. Menawhile, the Principal Secretary Animal and Sheep Husbandry department Navin Choudhary has ordered a ban on import of Poultry products into J&K.

Choudhary, principal secretary, agriculture and animal husbandry department, said, "In the wake of the spread of bird flu in neighboring states of J&K as a measure of abundant precaution and in view of the declaration of whole J&K as 'controlled area' for bird flu disease, the admin of UT of J&K imposes complete ban on import of live birds, including poultry and unprocessed poultry meat for any purpose into the union territory of J&K with immediate effect till 14-01-2021." In a historic development, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the LAHDC Kargil and the Army to evacuate the Kargil Lower Plateau. For the first time since the outbreak COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, no fresh cases have been detected in the eight districts across the Union Territory while three new deaths and 127 fresh cases reported from the rest of the districts on Thursday. Several birds, mostly crows, have died under mysterious conditions in Panj Peer area of Rajouri town over the past few days amid the Bird Flu scare in the country. The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Thursday said that Jammy Kashmir is a very sensitive Union Territory and that he will come up with facts about the Lawaypora encounter at an "appropriate time." “Let me tell you that J&K is a very sensitive UT. I have noted all versions including that of forces’ and the families of the (slain trio).
