Bird Flu Scare- More than 100 Birds Found Dead in 3 Districts of Jammu Kashmir

Panic has gripped across Jammu Kashmir on Thursday,  as More than 100 birds were found dead in Rajouri, Kathua and Udhampur district from Wednesday evening to Thursday evening. The Administration has picked up the samples and burnt birds at far off locations. Joint teams of Wildlife and Animal Husbandry Departments have been constituted in all the districts and are closely monitoring the situation. Menawhile, the Principal Secretary Animal and Sheep Husbandry department Navin Choudhary has ordered a ban on import of Poultry products into J&K.

This was announced on Thursday and comes into effect from Friday. An order issued by Navin K. Choudhary, principal secretary, agriculture and animal husbandry department, said, "In the wake of the spread of bird flu in neighboring states of J&K as a measure of abundant precaution and in view of the declaration of whole J&K as 'controlled area' for bird flu disease, the admin of UT of J&K imposes complete ban on import of live birds, including poultry and unprocessed poultry meat for any purpose into the union territory of J&K with immediate effect till 14-01-2021." In a historic development, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the LAHDC Kargil and the Army to evacuate the Kargil Lower Plateau. The MoU was signed between the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary on behalf of the LAHDC, Kargil and Brigade Commander, 121 Infantry Division Brigadier Vivek Bakshi on behalf of the Army in presence of the Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan and the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 8 Mountain Division Major General Praveen Kumar Airy, AVSM. No Fresh Covid Cases in Last 24 Hours in 8 Districts of Jammu Kashmir

For the first time since the outbreak COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, no fresh cases have been detected in the eight districts across the Union Territory while three new deaths and 127 fresh cases reported from the rest of the districts on Thursday. Moreover, following the declining trend in the cases of the deadly infection, the administration has identified at least 18 hospitals and health centers to de-notify them from the category of COVID designated hospitals.
