CRPF Man Injured in Jammu Shootout, Arms recovered during searches

A CRPF man was injured after suspected militants travelling on a truck opened fire on a CRPF naka party in Jajjar Kotli area along the Srinagar-Jammu highway on Wednesday.

Soon after the incident, government forces launched a massive cordon and search operation (CASO) in the area.

A source said that at unknown persons opened fire at the CRPF party deployed for naka duty on the highway around 8:10 am, leaving a CRPF man injured.

The injured man, identified as Domesh Dass, was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

“Soon after the incident, a massive search operation was launched in the area and high alert was also sounded,” said a police official.

The army soldiers also joined the operations, he said.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that an AK-47 rifle and three magazines were recovered from a truck in which the suspected militants were travelling.

He said the truck driver and the conductor were taken into custody.

“One AK & 3 magazines recovered from the intercepted truck. Dvr,conductor taken into custody. 2-3 suspected militants who ran away from the truck are being chased.police army and Crpf activated.Cordon &search operation is on ahead of suketar v near Katra crossing National Highway,” police said in a statement released on Twitter.
