2 Militants Killed in Hajin- Operation On

August 30 Two Militants have been killed in the ongoing gunfight in the Parray Mohallah of Hajin in North Kashmir's Bandipora District that began in the wee hours of Thursday morning. Official sources said that the gunfight began after security forces launched a cordon and search operation against unidentified Militants after getting specific information. The Search operation is still on as per reports. Details are awaited.

Father of Riyaz Naikoo, Son of Syed Salahuddin Arrested

August 30 The Jammu Kashmir Police in a nocturnal raid arrested the father of Hizb ul Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo in south Kashmir’s Awantipora area. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that forces raided the house of Riyaz Naikoo at Beighpora Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and arrested Assadullah Naikoo, the father of Riyaz during last night. A Police official told that he has been arrested for questioning. Meanwhile the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested the son of Hizb chief Syed Salahuddin during a night raid at his residence in Rambagh area of Srinagar.

Budgam- Youth Thrashes Girl, Tears Apart her clothes, Tries to Molest her

August 29 A 12th class girl was assaulted up by a twenty year old outside the Higher Secondary School Pakherpora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a youth identified as Nazim Ahmad Dar, resident of Pakherpora caught hold of a girl student and thrashed her, after which he also tore apart her clothes and made an attempt to molest her. Scores of angry Locals upon witnessing the sight rushed to the spot and rescued the girl and took her to the nearby hospital, however the young boy managed to escape from the spot. Sopore- Police Disallows Civil Society Peaceful Protest in Defense of 35A

August 29 SHABIR KHAN The Jammu Kashmir Police on Tuesday foiled a march organized by Civil Society Sopore called against the attempts to abrogate Article 35 A. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that members of Civil Society Sopore on Wednesday carrying banners and placards assembled outside Dak Bungalow Sopore to protest against the attempts to abrogate Article 35 A,. The Police soon reached the spot and did not allow them to proceed.  Meanwhile chairman of Civil Society Sopore Mohammad Akbar talking with media said that the protest was aimed to warn the government over attempts to abrogate Article 35-A. But unfortunately  additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore issued a Letter to disallow the protest.

Students Protest in Baramulla Against Militant Killings in South Kashmir

August 29 Scores of students from Government Degree College Baramulla on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration outside the college campus against the killing of two Militants in South Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a large number of students shouting pro Freedom and Pro Militancy Slogans gathered outside GDC Baramulla. The protesting also shouted slogans against the attempts to abrogate Article 35 A before they dispersed off on a peaceful note. Two militants including top Hizb commander Altaf Ahmed Dar alias Kaczroo were killed in a gunfight in Muniwar area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District this morning.

Jammu- Srinagar Highway Blocked Yet again

August 29 The Highway connecting Srinagar with Jammu region has been blocked again due to landslides at Kheri Passi morh in Udhampur on National Highway. Reports reveal that a major landslide happened in the region at around 3 am after which the authorities disallowed vehicular movement on the National Highway. "The clearance operation is on and the road will be opened for the traffic within the next few," officials said. Hundreds of vehicles travelling on either sides have been stranded due to the closure of the highway.
