100 couples tie knot in mass marriage ceremony in Srinagar
Al-Noor Welfare Society, a local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) from Srinagar, arranged a mass marriage event in the central Kashmir district on Sunday, uniting nearly 100 brides from underprivileged backgrounds, many of whom were orphans.
The organizers of the event said that they have been doing this since 2012, ensuring that people with different needs receive help and necessary assistance with special focus on the marriage of underprivileged women.
“Initially, we used to get a few brides married off; we would bear the expenses and ensure that they lived happily with their families without feeling any financial burden. But now, the number has increased, and today we are marrying off 100 brides in one go,” said Shabir Ahmad, who heads the NGO.
