Kashmir Press Photographers Association (KPPA) on Wednesday paid glowing tributes to the senior photojournalists Mushtaq Ali on his 28th death anniversary and Shafa'at Siddiqui on his 9th death anniversary. In a statement issued to the press, KPPA paid tributes to Mushtaq Ali who was killed in a parcel bomb explosion on September 10, 1995, at Press Colony in Srinagar. KPPA also paid tributes to Shafa'at Siddiqui who drowned during the floods that swept Kashmir on September 7, 2014. The association recalled the services rendered by both the photojournalists to the profession of journalism in Kashmir and remembered them on their death anniversaries.

The Supreme Court of India has imposed a cash penalty on Ladakh administration while dismissing the petition opposing allotment to 'plough' symbol to JKNC in Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council polls. The Jammu Kashmir admin on Tuesday handed over the appointment letters to the next of kin of three civilians killed in Shopian in July 2020. The appointment letters were handed over by LG Manoj Sinha on compassionate grounds over to Shareen Akhter, wife of Mohammed Abrar, Mohammed Arif, brother of Mohammed Imtiyaz and Farayaz Ahmed, brother of Mohd Abrar, all residents of Rajouri. The trio was killed in an encounter on July 18, 2020 in the Amshipora area of Shopian. Local Body Polls: CEO J&K unveils draft reservation proposal for 77 municipalities

Jammu Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer on Tuesday unveiled draft reservation proposal of 77 urban local bodies in the Union Territory. As per a notification, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), CEO J&K unveiled the proposal for reservation of wards for women, schedule castes and schedule tribes in the ULBs. As per the notification, objections and suggestions over the proposal can be filed in next seven days in the office of CEO. The CEO has proposed to reserve 25 wards for women in Srinagar Municipal Corporation and 25 wards for women, 10 for Schedule Castes and two for Scheduled Tribes in Jammu Municipal Corporation. The municipal polls in Jammu Kashmir are likely to be held in October—November this year—(KNO)

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a fake recruitment scam in Kupwara and arrested five persons in this regard. Police said that acting on complaints, Kupwara Police busted a fake recruitment scam in the Military Engineering Service (MES) and arrested five accused persons.
