Jammu Kashmir police on Wednesday filed a case against Municipal Committee Chairman Langate in northern Kashmir for illegally excavating soil from the premises of a government school, officials said here. Mercury recorded a drop in Jammu Kashmir on Thursday amid rainfall in plains and snowfall over higher reaches. In the last 24 hours till 08:30 hours today, Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort, received 20cm of snowfall, a meteorological department official said. Five students sustained injuries after a late night scuffle in National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar city after a volleyball match. The police as per Kashmir news Service (KNS), said that two group of students belonging to different batches clashed after the end of a volleyball match. For the first time in the last three decades, the Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) is all set to begin a large restoration of navigation channels at the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar.
