Drug addicts assault beggar in Srinagar, try to snatch money, Arrested

Police Monday said that it arrested two drug addicts, who had assaulted and looted a homeless old man in Lal Chowk area of Srinagar city. Srinagar Police in a Tweet informed that: “Two accused arrested for beating & looting a homeless old man in Lal chowk area around midnight time 2 days back.” The accused have been identified as Furqaan Majeed Khan, a resident of Nowgam Kanipora and Danish Manzoor Ganie, a resident of Sopore. “Both are drug addicts and criminal-minded,” police said. Pertinently, a video probably from Abi Guzar location had gone viral in which these two drug addicts were seen trying to snatch money from a beggar during late night hours. Drug addiction of late in Kashmir has shown an upward trend giving rise to crime in society. (KNT)

SI recruitment scam J-K: CBI raids 33 locations including Jammu, Srinagar

The CBI Tuesday started a search operation at 33 locations, including the premises of ex-Jammu and Kashmir SSB chairman Khalid Jahangir, over alleged irregularities in the recruitment process of sub-inspectors in the Union Territory, officials said, PTI reported. The premises of Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) Controller of Examinations Ashok Kumar are also being searched, they said. The searches are spread across Jammu, Srinagar; Karnal, Mahendergarh, Rewari in Haryana; Gandhinagar in Gujarat; Delhi; Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and Bengaluru in Karnataka. Centre extends incentives to govt employees working in Kashmir for 3 more years

Centre has extended the package of concessions and incentives to Central Government employees working in Kashmir Valley for a further period of three years. “It has been decided by the competent authority to extend the package of concessions/incentives to Central Government employees working in Kashmir Valley for a further period of three years with effect from 01.08.2021,” said an office memorandum issued by the DoPT on Monday. The DoPT said that the package of incentives is uniformly applicable to all Ministries and Departments and PSUs under the Government of India and they should ensure strict adherence to the rates prescribed in the package. Police seize truck with illegal consignment of cement belonging to BRO

The Kargil Police seized a truck loaded with an illegal consignment of Cement belonging to Border Roads Organization (BRO) from Kargil town on late Sunday night.
