Shopian encounter: Army personnel injured, operation continues

An Army trooper was injured in a gunfight at Heff Shirmal area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday, officials said. A top police officer told GNS that during intial exchange of fire one Army soldier recieved splinter injuries. He has been shifted to 92 Base Hospital for advanced treatment, the officer added. Earlier, an unidentified militant was also killed during intial of fire with police and army. More details will follow.(GNS)

An Encounter broke out between militants and government forces in Heff Shermal area of south Kashmir's Shopian district on Monday. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that a joint team of CRPF, RR of Indian Army and Police launched a cordon and search operation in Heff Shermal area. As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight. Initial inputs suggest that two to three militants are trapped at the site of the encounter. Details emerging

Burglars looted cash, set the documents and other goods on fire, and ransacked the house of a police officer’s widow in North Kashmir’s Goigam Kunzar village of Baramulla district. The widow Gulshan Akhtar told news agency Kashmir News Trust that unknown burglars barged into her house in her absence and decamped with cash. She said her brother Nazir Ahmed had kept his cash in the house for construction purposes and that has been looted by the burglars. “After looting cash, the burglars ransacked the house, stole important documents from the house, and even set goods on fire,” she said. Woman dies after being hit by motorcycle in Bijbehera

A woman died after she was hit by an unidentified biker in Bijbehera area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Sunday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the accident took place near Arwani village this afternoon when an unknown biker hit the woman identified as Raja Begum of Locktypora Arwani. Minor girl allegedly abducted, raped in Srinagar

A minor girl was allegedly raped after being kidnapped by a man in the Srinagar district of central Kashmir. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that a man identified as Sajad Ali Sofi, a resident of Gulshanbagh in Srinagar's Lal Bazar allegedly abducted a minor girl from his locality and raped her. The parents of the minor girl lodged an FIR against the accused after which Jammu Kashmir Police have taken the accused into custody. A Police spokesman said that in this regards FIR no 53/2022 has been registered under sections 376 of IPC and sections 3/4 of POCSO Act at Lal Bazar PS.
