Man injured in Bear attack in Lal Mandi Srinagar

A man was injured in a bear attack at LalMandi, one of the densely populated area of Srinagar, on Sunday. A senior police officer told GNS that the bear attacked one Fayaz Ahmad Bhat (40) son of Late Mohd Shafi Bhat resident of Habba Kadal, working as Chokidar in a private school. The injured, having injuries in right side of face and both arms, has been shifted to SMHS where his condition is stated to be stable, the officer added. It's pertinent to mention that police has already issued advisory to the people in Rajbagh to not venture out of their homes until the bear and cub are captured.(GNS)

Paddy land shrinking fast in Kashmir, 30,000 hectares lost since 2013

Land under paddy cultivation in Kashmir is on the decline as around 30,000 hectares of land has been lost since 2013. Official documents accessed by news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), revealed that 2012-13 the land under paddy in Kashmir was 162,309 hectares while the production was 621.64 metric tons with the yield of 38.3 quintals per hectare. In 2013-14, the land under paddy in Kashmir was 158,356 hectares while the production was 693.64 metric tons with yield of 43.8 quintals per hectare while in 2014-15 the land under paddy in Kashmir was 155,432 hectares while as the production was 240.92 metric ton with yield 15.5 quintal per hectare, it adds. J-K Consultancy Association calls for blacklisting of some Bangladesh colleges

BJP leader Gulam Ali Khatana from J-K appointed to Rajya Sabha

On Saturday, President Draupadi Murmu appointed Gulam Ali to the Rajya Sabha. Ali hails from Jammu and Kashmir. “In exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-Clause (a), of clause (1) of article 80 of the Constitution of India, read with clause (3) of that article, the President is pleased to nominate Shri Gulam Ali to the Council of the state to fill the vacancy caused due to the retirement of one of the nominated members,” read a Union Home Ministry notification on Saturday. A woman was charged for "breaching" peace for assaulting a young boy in a park for allegedly stalking her daughter. Videos of a woman who is a resident of Srinagar went viral on Social media. Bear attack leaves elderly man injured in JK’s Poonch

A 53-year-old man was mauled by a bear in the higher reaches of Thanamandi in JK’s Poonch district on Suturday, officials said. As per the officials, the man identified as Ghulam Hussain son of  Fazal Hussain of Mangota  in tehsil Mandi of Poonch district was grazing his livestock when the bear attacked him near Rarry Dhoke leaving him injured. Locals evacuated him to PHC Thanamandi for treatment from where he was referred to GMC Rajouri for specialized treatment. (KNT)

OGW module busted in Sopore, 4 LeT associates held: Police

Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday claimed to have busted an OGW module in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district by arresting four associates of LeT and recovered arms and ammunition from them.
