Five persons including 3 soldiers injured in Handwara road accident

Five persons including three Army personnel were injured after an Army vehicle collided with a load carrier in North Kashmir's Handwara. The collision took place in Ganapora area of Kralgund. Local sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that there was a head on collision between a load carrier (JK09C-7067) and an Army vehicle. Both the vehicles suffered damage while 5 persons including 3 troopers sustained injuries. Two civilians injured in the accident have been identified as Nazir Ahmed Wani of Mandigam and Irfan Ahmed Reshi, a resident of Shanoo village of Handwara. Police in this regard have taken cognizance and registered a case under relevant sections of law. (KNT)

Girl missing from Jammu Kashmir found dead in Punjab

The dead body of a girl, who went missing from JK’s Samba district, was recovered by police on Monday in Ludhiana city of Punjab. Police sources said that a girl studying in Samba degree college did not reach home on Saturday in Madkola village in Sumb area of Samba district. “The family lodged a missing report. Today the body was recovered from Ludhiana by Punjab Police, who made the identification from the identity card of the deceased,” sources said. When the body reached Samba on Monday, agitated family members, relatives and neighbours blocked the Jammu-Pathankot national highway. Authorities were seen trying to pacify the agitators. (IANS)

Massive fire in Srinagar’s Bemina, Four residential houses damaged

Four residential houses were partially damaged in a fire incident in Nundresh Colony A in Bemina area of Srinagar this afternoon. Reports said that four residential houses belonging to Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, Mohd Maqbool Bala and Tariq Ahmad Bala, Nasir Ahmad Farooqi, Abdul Ahad Lone and Parveena Akhtar were partially damaged after fire broke out from a residential house in Nundresh Colony A. They said that F&ES with the help of police and locals doused off the flames to prevent any further damages. Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and investigation was underway to ascertain the cause of fir. (KNO)

Yasin Malik rejects court’s legal aid offer, insists on physical appearance in Jammu

A special court here on Monday offered legal aid to JKLF chief Yasin Malik, but he turned it down and again insisted on his physical appearance in the hearing on the killing of four Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel in 1990, PTI reported. Malik appeared in the hearing via video conference from Delhi’s Tihar Jail where he is currently lodged, standing counsel for the CBI Monika Kohli said. Malik, 56, is serving a life sentence in a 'terror-funding' case. Suspected militants hurled a grenade blast on Sunday evening in the Nishat area of Srinagar. According to Jammu Kashmir police two civilians were injured when militants hurled a grenade in the Nishat area of Srinagar, causing minor injuries to two civilians.o "A could of civilians received minor injuries, all were given first aid and all have been discharged from hospital," Police said.
