A soldier allegedly ended his life in Rajouri district, official sources said on Sunday. They said Naik A S Reddy of army’s 49 RR had used rope to take the extreme step inside hospital. The soldier, they said had gone for a check-up regarding problem of appendix for which he was operated upon few months ago. He went to the hospital to get his medical status upgraded to be fit for active duty, they said. However he used rope there and ended his life, they said. The reason for him taking such a drastic step was not immediately known, they added. (GNS)

Minor boy hospitalised after being ‘rescued’ under mysterious circumstances from Panchayat ghar In Kupwara Village

A nine-year-old boy was rescued under mysterious circumstances from a village in Awura area of Kupwara district this evening, sources said. They told GNS that a boy was found tied with ropes and his mouth duct-taped at a local Panchayat house premises in Awura-A. The boy was soon after rescued and taken to SDH Kupwara for necessary treatment, they said. The boy has been identified as Basit Ghaffar Khan son of Abdul Ghaffar Khan. A police official told GNS that a boy is undergoing treatment as of now. “Necessary details as they emerge will be shared accordingly”, the official said. (GNS)

Low intensity mysterious blast at Nishat, 1 civilian received minor injury in arm: Police

A civilian was injured after a mysterious low intensity blast took place at Nishat area of Central Kashmir's Srinagar district on Sunday. A senior police officer told GNS that a low intensity Mysterious blast took place at parking lot at Nishat. In this incident one Auto driver recieved minor injury in arm, the officer said. Army opens fire after observing suspicious movement along LoC in Rajouri

Army personnel on Sunday opened fire after observing suspicious movement along the Line of Control in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that army troops observed movement of an infiltrator, who was moving suspiciously towards an army establishment along the LoC in Jhanger area of Nowshera. Electrician electrocuted to death at Srinagar Airport

An electrician died of electric shock while working at Srinagar Airport on Sunday, officials said. An official told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that one Parvaiz Ahmad Rather son of Gul Rather, a resident of Buchroo Chadoora working as electrician at air force station here, sustained injuries when he came in contact with a live wire at Airport. Rather was immediately shifted to district hospital hospital Budgam , where he succumbed to injuries. The body was handed over to the family members after completing medico-legal formalities. Sonamarg accident: One among 3 injured persons succumbs, toll 02

One among the three persons, who were injured after a vehicle skidded off the road in Sonamarg in Ganderbal district on Saturday evening, succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS Soura on Sunday, taking the death toll to two. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a vehicle driven by one Sameer Ahmad Najar of Kangan skidder off the road near Ranga Morh, resulting in on spot death to Sameer and injuries to three others. He said that the three persons identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani, Kuldeep Kumar and Subash Chander were injured in the mishap. Elderly man killed in hit and run accident in Hajin

A-60-year man was killed in a hit and run case in Baharabad area of Hajin in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Sunday morning. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a speedy vehicle crushed the elderly man identified as Ghulam Mohammad Hurra son of Sabir Ahmad Hurra of Baharabad when he was coming home after performing Fajr prayers in a nearby mosque. He said that instead of shifting the injured person to hospital, the driver fled from the scene. The official added that body of the deceased has been brought to the hospital for post-mortem. Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said that she has been put under house arrest. According to the local news agency, Kashmir News Trust, The former Chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir said that she was supposed to visit the house of Kashmiri pandit Sunil Kumar’s family who was killed by unknown men on August 17 at Chotigam in Shopian district. “My attempts to visit Suneil Kumar’s family at Chotigam today were scuttled by the administration. The same administration claims that locking us up is for our own security while they themselves visit every nook & corner of the Valley,” Mehbooba said in a tweet. The PDP president also shared a picture of a security bunker vehicle stationed outside her Fairview residence at Gupkar Gate in Srinagar.

Militant hideout busted in Shopian

Meer Irfan The Government forces on Sunday morning busted a militant outfit in Wachi area of south Kashmir's Shopian district. A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that on specific inputs, the government forces including RR of the Indian Army, and Jammu Kashmir Police launched a search operation near the Ranbi Ara area in Shopian's Wachi during which they found a militant hideout. During the searches of the hideout, the forces found several things used by militants, however, no arms were found during the operation, the official said. Details emerging.
