Family seeks help as 18-year-young boy goes missing from Pulwama

An 18-year-old youth has gone missing from his residence in the Drubgam area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that on 14 May, Fazil Ahmed Bhat, son of Nazir Ahmed Bhat left his home in Drubgam area of Pulwama and did not return back and his phone is unreachable since then. The family has issued an appeal asking general public and police to help them trace Fazil.  

Ramban tunnel collapse: 9 dead bodies retrieved, rescue operation on

Sahil Gulzar The dead bodies of nine labourers have been found by rescuers from the debris of an under-construction tunnel that collapsed near Khooni Nallah area of Ramban district, officials said on Saturday. They said besides recovering the bodies of nine of the ten labourers trapped under the debris, rescuers have so far also rescued three labourers in injured condition and one of them has been admitted to GMT Jammu for advanced treatment, where his condition is stated to be stable. Bodies are being shifted to district hospital Ramban besides that operation is going on to find out whether any other body is in the debris, an official told The Kashmiriyat. 10 injured in Ramban road accident

At least 10 persons were injured after a head-on collision between two vehicles in Parnote area Ramsu in Ramban district, officials said. SHO Ramban Sandeep Charak told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that an accident took place in Parnote after head on collision between Sumo and tanker vehicles. He said in the accident 10 people have suffered injures. "The vehicle was on way from Ramban to Sangaldan", he said. All the injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment and their identity is being ascertained, he said—(KNO)

Woman killed in road accident in north Kashmir

A woman was killed in a road accident at Jalsheree area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Saturday after being hit by a running auto-rickshaw. An official told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that an auto-rickshaw hit the woman pedestrian identified as Saleema Banoo wife of Waheed Ahmad, a resident of Jalsheree Baramulla, resulting in critical injuries to her. The injured woman was immediately shifted to GMC Baramulla for treatment, he said, adding that the doctors declared her brought dead on arrival. Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and the investigation set into motion. (KDC)

Massive fire breaks out in Dal gate area of Srinagar

A massive fire has broken out in Roni Mohalla of Dalgate in central Kashmir's Srinagar district. Initial reports reaching GNS said that at least six houses are involved even as flames continued to rage at the site. A Fire and Emergency Department confirming it told GNS that firefighters laced with machinery are on way to the site. More details awaited. (GNS)

A horse died, of electrocution at tourist resort Sonmarg due to alleged negligence of the Sonmarg Development Authority. One of the electric poles installed by Sonmarg Development Authority (SDA) had been uprooted last week at Thajvas Road. Even after a week, SDA didn’t bother to re-install or relocate the electric pole to another place. Two youth, both residents of Shopian's Trenz area have gone missing from their homes in the south Kashmir district. Identified as Afreen Altaf Malik and Shakir Ahmed Waza, both residents of Trenz, the duo has gone missing from their homes on May 17, 2022. The family of 24 years old Afreen Malik son of Mohammed Altaf Malik, a resident of Babkhidar area of Trenz village has issued an appeal on social media asking the general public and Police to help them trace their missing kin. Delimitation commission’s order on Jammu Kashmir effective from today

In a significant development, the delimitation commission’s order on Jammu Kashmir’s electoral segments has come into effect from Friday as the Government of India issued a notification in this regard. IGP chairs meet in Anantnag to review security preparedness for Amarnath Yatra
