In a shocking incident, a newborn baby was found dead at Dal Lake near Nishat garden in Srinagar on Wednesday evening. An official told news Agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a new born baby was found floating in Dal Lake near Nishat garden Srinagar. The body was fished out and taken to nearby facility, where doctors have declared him brought dead on arrival. Meanwhile local police has taken cognizance of the incident and shifted the body to SMHS hospital for legal medical formalities—(KNO)

Recently infiltrated militant killed in ongoing Bandipora encounter: Police

A militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter between security forces and militants in Srinder forest area of north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Wednesday, officials said. The officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that one unidentified militant has been killed in the operation that took place in the Srinder woods of the district. The Inspector-General of Jammu Kashmir Police said that 01 militant was killed and 01 AK rifle along with 03 magazines were recovered from the possession of the slain militant. "The killed militant was a part of the newly infiltrated militant group. Search for other two militants is in progress," he said. Encounter breaks out in Bijbehara area

An encounter has started between militants and Government forces at Marhama area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir's Anantnag district. A Police official said that on Wednesday 3 RR of the Indian Army,  and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the Marhama area. During the cordon, the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter. Further details shall follow.

An encounter has started between militants and Government forces at Salinder forest area of north Kashmir's Bandipora district. A Police official said that on Wednesday RR of the Indian Army,  and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the Salinder forest area. During the cordon, the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter. Sticky bombs a challenge to Amarnath Yatra: CRPF

CRPF personnel, who will be deployed for the Amarnath Yatra in Jammu Kashmir, are being sensitized about the threat posed by “sticky bombs”, a senior officer said on Wednesday, asserting that alertness is the best way to deal with the problem. In a first of its kind seizure in February last year, the Border Security Force (BSF) confiscated a drone-dropped consignment along the International Border in the Samba district which included 14 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) with in-built magnets. These could be used as “sticky bombs” by sticking them on vehicles and controlling them using a timer and a remotely-held device. Engineering student goes missing from Shopian

Meer Irfan Tawseef Ahmed Bhat, a resident of the Czermarg area in Shopian's Zainapora has gone missing from his home in the south  Kashmir district. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat a family member of Tawseef, a son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat said that he left his home on Sunday morning and has not returned since then. "He is pursuing a B Tech degree and is currently preparing for his fifth semester. He left home without informing us and since then there has been no trace of him," they said. The family initially thought that Tawseef was out for a picnic with his friends. Man dies after falling from moving bus in Budgam

A man was killed on Wednesday after he fell down from moving vehicle in Humhama area of Central Kashmir's Budgam district. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a man was, traveling from Budgam to Srinagar when he fell down from Bus bearing registration number JK01D 8652. He said locals immediately shifted him to SMHS hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Bride goes missing hours after marriage in Ramban, recovered from Anantnag

A 25-yr-old bride who had gone missing from her home in the Sangaldan area of Ramban has been recovered in Anantnag. The bride had reportedly gone missing a few hours after her marriage from the Bus Stand Ramban when she was on the way to the groom's house She had told the groom that she needs to go to the beauty parlour after which she did not return. "The groom and other baratis after a long wait approached police station Ramban and lodged a missing report," the report added. After searches by Jammu Kashmir Police, the bride was later recovered from Verinag area of south Kashmir's district Anantnag.

Dozens injured in Rajouri accident

Dozens of passengers have received injuries in a road accident that took place at Khandli near Rajouri town on Wednesday. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that an accident took place when a Canter Bus on way from Kotedhara to Rajouri collided with a Tipper at Khandli. The bus turned turtle, resulting in injuries to dozens of passengers, they said. The officials added that all the injured were evacuated from the spot and were rushed to hospital for treatment.
