Another injured Sarpanch succumbed today after the bus they were travelling in crashed into a tipper and overturned on Baramulla-Srinager Highway at Pattan on Monday evening. The Delimitation Commission in Jammu Kashmir is likely to submit full and final report in the month end after it received more than 400 recommendations to its draft proposal. Delimitation Commission submitted its draft proposal on March 14 and called for various suggestions and objections to its draft report. The Commission said it received nearly 400 objections and suggestions from March 14-21 after putting draft report in public domain followed by its two-day visit to both Jammu Kashmir divisions on April 4 and 5. Inhabitants of the Nai Sadak area of Habba Kadal here on Monday staged a protest against the PHE Department for failing to provide adequate water supply to them during the ongoing holy month of Ramadan. Scores of women from the locality blocked the main road, causing traffic jams in the area. “For the last one month, we are not getting an adequate water supply. We have been given assurances multiple times by the authorities, but nothing has been done in this regard,” the protesting women told news agency Kashmir News Trust. The Supreme Court of India is likely to hear pleas challenging the decision to abrogate Article 370 and 35A after the summer holidays that are scheduled from May 23 to July 11. On Monday, senior advocate Shekhar Naphde mentioned the matter before a bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana stating that it was an urgent matter as delimitation is to be conducted in Jammu Kashmir. The Chief Justice of India responded, “It’s a five-judge bench matter. I will have to ask the other judges as some retirements are also due to take place.” On August 05, 2019, the Indian Government unilaterally abrogated the special status of Jammu Kashmir demoting the state into two union territories. Parts of Kashmir received fresh rains as cloudy weather continued in the Valley on Monday. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar received traces of rain overnight till 0830 hours today even as it recorded a low of 12.2°C against 7.6°C on the previous night. The temperature, he said, was 3.3°C above normal during this time of the year for the summer capital. Gulmarg had 1.2 mm of rainfall during the time and recorded a low of 4.4°C against 0.5°C on the previous night, the official said.
