Low Intensity IED Blast In Kulgam, No Casualty Reported

Militants on Tuesday triggered off a low-intensity improvised explosive device at Ziyarat Qaimoh-Kader Road, the area falling between Yaripora and Qaimooh in south Kashmir's Kulgam district, officials said. There was no casualty reported in the incident which created panic in the area, a police officer told GNS. He said that soon a contingent of police and army reached the spot and cordoned off the area, he said. (GNS)

33 lakh golden cards issued in J&K since 2020, official data

In Jammu and Kashmir, nearly 33 lakh individual golden cards have been issued by the authorities since 2020 under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), reveals official data. As per the official figures available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), under Sehat scheme, 33.70 lakh health-golden or Sehat-cards have been issued to individuals in Jammu and Kashmir. Besides, in J&K 14.56 lakh families are eligible under PMJAY- Sehat, whereas 9.57 lakh (65.72 percent) of families have received their health cards and are covered under this scheme. The Jammu Kashmir Police in a statement said, a person lodged a complaint on December 28, 2021, that his 14-year-old daughter went missing after she left home to fetch milk. The complainant said he suspects that his minor daughter might have been abducted. A case was lodged at Police Station Reasi and investigations started. J&K Reports 3499 Fresh Covid-19 Cases, 6 Deaths

Covid-19 cases continued to skyrocket in Jammu and Kashmir as 3499 new cases have been reported while six persons succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Sunday. They said that 1210 of the cases were reported from Jammu Division and 2289 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall tally to 359373. There were also six deaths in the last 24 hours, three each from Jammu division and Kashmir Valley. So far 4567 people have succumbed to the virus and include 2221 in Jammu and 2346 in Kashmir. Joint Forces launched a massive cordon and search operation (CASO) in the village of  Thajiwara, Sunsuma, Achabal in South Kashmir. An official said that the operation was launched jointly by forces including  19RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and 164 CRPF Battalion following inputs about the movement of militants in the area. Meanwhile, locals told The Kashmiriyat that the forces have installed searchlights to keep a proper track of the militants believed to be hiding at the spot.
