A two storey restaurant Nirulas at Sangarmal city center in Srinagar caught fire on Sunday late night. Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) owner of the restaurant Mr Ashiq said that the cause for the fire is yet to be ascertained but the loss is in lakhs as fire blaze has gutted two stories of the restaurant. He said soon after the incident fire and emergency reached the spot to douse the flames and saved the rest of nearby shops in the building . After days of snowfall and rains, weather improved in J&K and Ladakh even as night temperature recorded a drop with mercury settling at minus 10.0°C at the world famous skiing resort of Gulmarg on Sunday. National Conference (NC) on Thursday denounced the allocation of 1034 Kanals of land to the Army under ‘Strategic Areas Act’ in Kashmir’s Gulmarg and 354 Kanals in Sonamarg. "Our reservations about the 'strategic areas act' are evidenced by this reckless land transfer. We had contended that the act will be used arbitrarily to grab civilian, tourist and other mineral resources rich areas. Amid surge in the Covid-19 cases, the government is mulling to impose night curbs in Jammu and Kashmir in a bid to prevent the virus from spreading. Sources privy to the development told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the night curfew would likely be imposed in the Union Territory sooner. “The decision has been taken to prevent Covid-19 from spreading,” they said.
