Removing encroachments and chocking points triggered a shutdown at Hari Singh High Street area of Srinagar city centre on Friday. All the shops remained shut and the shopkeepers at HSHS staged a protest terming the action of Srinagar Municipal Corporation ‘arbitrary’ one. On Thursday late evening, SMC used JCB to remove illegal pavements at Hari Singh High Street. The action on part of the SMC has angered shopkeepers who allege they are being selectively targeted. An aircraft shaped ballon with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) mark over it has been found in a village of Nowshera in Rajouri district that has now been seized by police, officials said Thursday. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that this ballon was found lying near a house in Dandani village of Nowshera sub division of Rajouri district. A militant of Hizbul Mujahideen was killed in an overnight encounter at Uzrampathri area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday. A top police officer confirmed to GNS about killing of Hizb militant, while identifying him as Feroz Ahmad Dar resident of Shopian. Dar had joined militant ranks in 2017 and was involved in many militancy related incidents, the officer added. A plastic factory was reduced to ashes in industrial area of SIDCO Lassipora in Pulwama district in a massive fire that broke out on Monday late night.
