Youth Found Dead Near Water Channel in Kulgam

The body of a 15-year-old youth was found near a Water channel in Badroo area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday, officials said. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that some passersby spotted the body lying at the water channel and informed the police about it. "Later, a team of police reached the spot and recovered it,” he said and identified the deceased as Tawseef Ahmad Bhat (15), son of Khursheed Ahmad Bhat. A residential house and four shops were gutted in a fire at Krad area of Uttersoo in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said on Friday. An official told GNS that a massive fire broke out during the midnight in the shops/house of one Ghulam Nabi Itoo son Mohammad Akbar Itoo at Krad Uttersoo Anantnag. Later on locals immediately rushed to the spot and with the help of fire tenders, doused off the flames. In this incident, one story house and four shops were damaged. Encounter has started between militants and government forces in Cheerbagh Dragad area of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Wednesday. Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Cheerbagh Dragad village. As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
