The body of a 15-year-old youth was found near a Water channel in Badroo area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday, officials said. A residential house and four shops were gutted in a fire at Krad area of Uttersoo in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said on Friday. An official told GNS that a massive fire broke out during the midnight in the shops/house of one Ghulam Nabi Itoo son Mohammad Akbar Itoo at Krad Uttersoo Anantnag. Later on locals immediately rushed to the spot and with the help of fire tenders, doused off the flames. In this incident, one story house and four shops were damaged. However, there was no loss of life or injury reported, he said. The cause of fire was not known immediately and is being ascertained, the official added.(GNS)

Encounter has started between militants and government forces in Cheerbagh Dragad area of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Wednesday. Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Cheerbagh Dragad village. As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight. A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces. As per the sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.(GNS)

A week after the death of biker, the injured pillion rider, undergoing treatment at a hospital here, has also succumbed to his wounds on Sunday night.
