  An Army man was killed in an encounter that broke out between militants and security forces in Bhata Dhurian village near Bhimber Gali area of Poonch. The area where the encounter broke out is part of a forest pocket that runs through Dehra Ki Gali where an encounter started on Monday morning in which five Army men lost their lives. 16 Districts in Jammu Kashmir achieve 100 per cent vaccination coverage of first dose

As many as 16 Jammu Kashmir districts have achieved 100 per cent coverage of the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine for the age group of 18 years and above, according to official figures. The union territory, meanwhile, recorded 75 fresh cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, taking the infected number of persons to 3,30,741. In total, 99.89 per cent of the population above the age of 18 years has been vaccinated across Jammu Kashmir. The 16 districts with 100 per cent coverage for the category are Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Budgam, Kulgam, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Shopian and Srinagar in the Kashmir valley and Doda, Jammu, Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban and Samba in Jammu division.   After a delay amid tension, Kashmiri Pandits on Wednesday peacefully performed Ramnavmi puja at Durga Nath temple in Sonwar area of Srinagar. The Manager of the temple, Makhan Lal Koul said that due to the untoward situation in the city for the past two weeks the administration didn't allow the puja earlier. "The puja was supposed to be conducted on 12 October as per the calendar but due to the circumstances, the administration didn't allow it earlier," Koul said. Gunfight breaks out in Waggad area of Tral

  Sahil Gulzar   An encounter broke out between security forces and militants at Talwani Mohalla in Waggad area of Tral hamlet in South Kashmir's Pulwama district, officials said on Wednesday.   An official told The Kashmiriyat that a joint of team of Police, Army's 42 RR and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants launched search operation in the area.   He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter.   He said that the exchange of fire is on in the area and two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
