Body of teenage girl recovered from Nallah in Kulgam

Danishwar Hameed Body of a teenage girl was recovered from nallah Vishow in Damhal Hanjipora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Thursday, officials said. An official told The Kashmiriyat that the body of the girl identified as Ruby Jan (14), daughter of Ghulam Hassan of Tangmarg was spotted in Nallah Vishow near her native village by locals. He said that the locals informed the police, following which a team reached the spot. The official added that the body has been shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Juvenile crimes rise in J&K: NCRB

Crimes committed by juveniles in Jammu and Kashmir are witnessing an upward trend with last year recording 323 cases, NCRB data has revealed. The report, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), stated that 299 crime cases were registered in J&K against juveniles in 2019, 171 in 2020 and 323 in 2021. The crime committed by juveniles as per data include six cases of murder, two cases of culpable homicide, three cases of death caused by negligence and 16 cases of attempt to murder. It also includes 19 cases of attempt to commit suicide, 52 incidents of hurt, 31 cases of wrongful restraint, 20 cases of assault on women with intend to outrage her modesty and eight cases of kidnapping. Two hybrid LeT militants arrested in Shopian, Says Police

Two hybrid militants of LeT were arrested along with arms and ammunition on Wednesday in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said here. Shopian police in a tweet, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) informed that two hybrids militants were arrested by Shopian police. They have been identified as Faizan Fayaz Bhat of Rafiabad and Yawar Nizam Mir of Konso Shopian. "Two hybrid terrorist of proscribed outfit LeT Faizan Fayaz Bhat S/o Fayaz Ahmed Bhat R/o Budan Rafiabad and Yawar Nizam Mir S/o Nizamuddin R/o Konso Shopian have been arrested by Shopian Police. Police on Wednesday said that two Local militants of outfit Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind were killed in a "Chance" Encounter in Tajiwara in Bijbhera area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. MBBS student from Bijbehara dies in Bangladesh, Family appeals authorities for help in bringing body back

A female student from South Kashmir’s Anantnag district has died in Bangladesh where she was pursuing MBBS even as her family has appealed to the authorities to help them bring her body back home. One of the family members told the (KNO) that Khusboo Manzoor daughter of Manzoor Ahmad of Katoo village of Bijbehara fell off her hostel building of the college on Tuesday, following which she was in ICU, however, succumbed to her injuries today. He said that she was pursuing Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Medical College in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the family member appealed to the concerned authorities to help them to bring her body back for the last rites. (KNO)

Shopian Encounter: Militants escape from gunfight spot

SOUTH KASHMIR
Militants have escaped from the encounter spot in South Kashmir’s Shopian district. An encounter between militants and joint forces had broken out yesterday in Bsakuchan area of the district. After the initial exchange of fire, the area had been sealed off as the operation was halted during night hours. SSP Shopian, Tanushree confirmed to news agency Kashmir News Trust that militants escaped from the encounter spot. The operation has been called off. (KNT)
