Encounter breaks out in south Kashmir’s Bijbehara area

Suhail Dar An encounter has started between militants and Government forces at Sheetpora Bijbehara area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat  that on saturday evening a joint group of 3 RR  and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in the area launched cardon and search operation. During the cordon, the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter. 2-3 militants are beleived to be trapped in the area Meanwhile,Kashmir Police Zone in a tweet confirmed the encounter. “#Encounter has started at Shitipora, #Bijbehara area of #Anantnag. Kulgam youth succumbs to injuries at SMHS hospital

A 19-year-old youth who was critically injured in a road accident in his native village Frisal area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Wednesday, succumbed today, officials said. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Dawood Ahmad Zargar son of Nazir Ahmed Zargar, a resident of Frisal area of Kulgam was among the two persons who were injured in an accident between bike (JK03J-1289) and Sumo (JK03C-9434) on Wednesday. 2 persons killed, 27 injured in two accidents in Jammu, Udhampur

Driver and conductor of a matador were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in fell into Tawi River in Bikram Chowk area of Jammu. Also, 27 persons were injured, six of them seriously, when a bus they were travelling in tilted by its side near Ballian in Udhampur district, officials said on Saturday. A police officer told GNS that the matador (JK02AM-7260) coming from Bikram Chowk side fell into Tawi bridge during intervening night of May 27 and 28, resulting in the on the spot death driver and conductor. ‘Fake faith healer’, two others arrested over woman’s death in Shopian

A “faith healer” has been arrested along with two other persons by police in Shopian following the death of a woman allegedly after she was beaten up last night in the south Kashmir district, officials said on Wednesday. A police official told GNS that the woman, Souby Jan wife of Muzzafar Ahmad Sheikh of Damhal Hanjipora Kulgam, was beaten up by the “faith healer” last night, “apparent to exorcise some evil spirit” at the her parental home in Hanjipora Kachdoora Shopian. Dead body of Shopian teenager missing since May 09 found in Kulgam

A teenager who had gone missing from his home in Kutpora Shopian was found dead near the Wishow nalla in Kulgam district of south Kashmir. Earlier reports said that a body was spotted by some locals lying in the Vishow Nallah near Aadbal Watoo following which they informed the police. Mother collapses while singing at ‘Mehandirat’ of her son in Pulwama, Dies

A woman died after she collapsed while singing in her son's wedding in the Murran area of south Kashmir's Pulwama’s district. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Haneefa Banoo, a resident of Pulwama's Murran was singing on a standing mic on the Mehdiraat of her son, when she suddenly collapsed in the tent. They said that the other women in the tent surprised at what was happening took it as a normal gesture, but when she did not get up for a few seconds, the locals rushed her to the nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead. The incident has created a grief across Kashmir and a video from the incident has gone viral across social media.

Ramban tunnel collapse: 2 more bodies retrieved, toll reaches 4
