CEO Kupwara Slaps Show Cause Notice to Private School for ‘Conducting Classwork’ Amid COVID Lockdown

Chief Education Officer Kupwara has shot a show-cause notice to a private school in the district for it conducting class-work amid ongoing COVID-19 lockdown. The institute authorities have been asked to respond to the notice within a day and, in the meantime, directed by the officer ‘to stop all such activities forthwith.’

The Chief Education Officer Abdul Hamid Faani, as per the notice addressed to the Principal ‘Dream World Educational Institute’ in Alichazib, has stated that on receipt of the complaint to the effect that the institution is conducting classes in violation of COVID-19 SOPs during the lockdown period, he processed to the spot to ascertain the factual position on 24-05-2021 (Monday).

The District-level Education Officer has stated that twenty to twenty-five students of different classes, including four school teachers, were found teaching in a private building in a village.

Deriding the conduct of classes amid Lockdown, the officer has stated that the action violates the basic COVID-19 SOP’s prescribed by the Government during the Lockdown period, which is liable for action under the Disaster Management Act, including cancellation of Recognition of the institute.

“Now therefore proceeding into the matter you are given a chance to reply to this Show Cause notice, response of which should reach to this office within one day, failing which action shall follow without any further reminder. In the meanwhile, you are directed to stop all such activities forthwith”, the notice concludes.
