Civilian flights shut, schools closed, three civilians killed

Civilian flight operations at Srinagar Airport were suspended today after the Indian Air Force closed the airfield. The move comes amid heightened security following India’s early morning strikes on terror infrastructure across the Line of Control.

Director of Srinagar Airport, Javed Anjum, confirmed the closure, stating that no civil flights will be operated from the airport today. Authorities have advised passengers to check with airlines before heading to the airport.

Three civilians killed in heavy shelling in Poonch

Three civilians were killed during heavy overnight shelling by Pakistani forces in the Poonch sector.

Officials identified the deceased as Mohd Adil (son of Shaheen Noor), Saleem Hussain (son of Altaf Hussain), and Ruby Kour (wife of Shallu Singh). A local forest office in Poonch was also destroyed in the shelling.

The Indian Army said Pakistan initiated arbitrary firing, including artillery shelling, from across the Line of Control and International Border. Indian forces responded in a proportionate manner.

India launches Operation Sindoor, strikes nine terror sites in PoK and Pakistan

In response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, including a Nepali citizen, India carried out precision strikes early Wednesday on nine terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

A defence spokesperson said the operation was focused, measured, and non-escalatory. No Pakistani military facilities were targeted, and considerable restraint was exercised in the selection of targets. A detailed briefing on Operation Sindoor is expected later today.

Schools, colleges closed in five Jammu districts

All educational institutions in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch have been ordered shut for the day due to the prevailing security situation.

Authorities have urged the public to remain alert and follow official advisories.

Schools and colleges in Baramulla, Kupwara, and Gurez will remain closed today as a precautionary measure.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said the step was taken in light of the current situation and asked the public to stay calm and follow advisories.
